Weather Site Bio
The weather station project started with the installation of the Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 system hardware on July 7, 2006.The station records and stores information for all weather statistics, i.e. Indoor and Outdoor Temperature; Indoor and Outdoor Humidity; Wind Speed and Direction,Wind Gusts, Wind Chill; Hourly,Daily, Monthly, and Yearly Rainfall; Barometer Readings, 12,24,48 hour and Five Day Advance Forecasts, Cloud levels above ground, Density Altitude info for Pilots, moving Maps, Weather Radar, and much more.
After receiving numerous phone calls from neighbors about the weather, it was evident that this information (backyard weather info) not only was desired but had become somewhat of a necessity what with the drought, wildfires, and often dramatic thunderstorms. So in November, 2007 the purchase and installation of special weather broadcast software was begun.
The next obvious step was to build a Web Site to make this data available to everyone. It didn't matter whether they lived here full time, or are part time residents who live in Phoenix and elsewhere, or simply relatives who wanted to keep up with the conditions Grandpa and Grandma, Mom and Dad, were experiencing. In addition requests were received for pictures of the area and there came the opportunity to add a third page, soon to go to a 5th, 6th, and even a 7th page.
The installation of the web camera was started on July 15th and completed on July 28th. The camera sends a wireless signal to the computer and then on to the Web page. But the camera does require electric power and so we ran a dedicated power line to a control box under the eaves and plugged the camera in there.
The Web Site continues to grow and will hopefully continue to grow "ad infinitum"( Latin for Forever). Please remember that we appreciate your comments and suggestions.
